Born in the foggy Po valley near Venice, and visiting the Alps and the Mediterranean Sea each year, Piero Medici has learned to love the natural environment. Combined with a fascination for European architecture throughout the ages. Piero mixes a natural understanding with the art and beauty of spaces.
Piero is a curious, motivated and innovative environmental scientist first and foremost, and a bioclimatic and passive system designer as a close second, always working to find new solutions in order to improve the environment and to strengthen the built environment.
Piero worked for two years as researcher in the University of Venice in the field of environmental risk assessment and management in European legislation. He has worked since 2009 at a variety of sustainable architectural firms in Rotterdam. Recently his focus has been on sustainable bioclimatic, low-energy, and passive design, research on sustainable solutions, evaluating environmental impact of materials and their risk of toxicity for human health and for the environment, and calculating Life Cycle Assessment of building’s materials, building physics and energy performance.
Piero has a Bachelor degree in Environmental Sciences from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice (Erasmus scholarship in Barcelona), a bachelor degree in Architecture from IUAV University of Venice and a Master degree in Architecture from the TU Delft.
