San Francisco Transbay Terminal/Pelli Clarke Pelli

Part of the design team since the early concepts were drawn up, Except consulted the architecture office of Pelli Clarke Pelli on conceptual design, presentation and visualization throughout the process. This being one of the largest architectural competitions to be held in the past decade, Except was excited to participate in the talented team of designers. On September 20th 2007, the TJPA competition panel announced that we had won the competition in favor of Skidmore Owens & Merril and Richard Rogers.

The main diagram created by Except was subsequently used as the main image for the 'Contemporary Architectural Drawing' exhibit in the New York National Academy Museum.

The transbay competition revolved around the replacement of the existing Transbay transportation hub, and the creation of a signature tower for the city of San Francisco. The environmental concerns were considderable, the development time short, and the stakes high. Pelli Clarke Pelli hired Except to assist in the conceptual design, environmental diagrams and general presentation design. With the team of Pelli Clarke Pelli and environmental engineers

Atelier Ten from London the Transbay design quickly became the well synthesized design that will be built. Among the areas of involvement of Except were the roof park, water features, funiculars, main square, bridge connections and landscape design.
