The Marne is a rural municipality located on the Wadden Sea World Heritage, and Lauwersmeer National Park, with lots of nature, space, peace and clean air. That is nice for tourists, but especially for the ten thousand inhabitants. Characteristic is the open mound landscape in which the villages are situated in a row on salt marshes along the old coastline. In De Marne you will not find high-rise flats, traffic jams, or industrial pollution. You will find friendly houses with gardens in cozy villages. And nature is always within reach.
