From infection biology research to biomimetic carbon trapping R&D, and from Lyon to Brussels, via Portland - OR and Braunschweig (DE), Caroline is on a journey to maximize her abilities to benefit natural and human ecosystems.

Caroline is dedicated to bring awareness and guidance on various sustainability topics and explores disruptive innovation routes to ease human impact on ecosystems. For that purpose, Caroline fueles Except’s projects with the latest eco-innovations in green technologies and urban development by combining her scientific expertise and sustainability knowledge

First trained as a microbiologist, Caroline acquired expertise in antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, bacterial communication, and social behaviour. Eager to translate scientific research results into useful applications for society, she joined Greenloop in 2009, a Brussels consultancy specialized in biomimicry and sustainability. There she co-designed innovative carbon sequestration solutions using bacteria for the European CO2SolStock project. She also participated in various projects on the theme of sustainable food systems and promoted biomimicry as an awareness and innovation tool for SMEs and the industry.

Caroline also teaches on LCA notions, bio/ecotoxicity and nature’s solutions as a biomimicry lecturer at the European Center of Excellence on BIOmimicry in Senlis (CEEBIOS, France).
