As a fifth-generation San Francisco Bay Area native, Rebecca was raised on the values of human diversity, environmental stewardship and pioneering innovation. It’s little surprise then that her life’s work has centered on promoting an integrated vision of sustainability, based on social, environmental and economic justice.

Over the course of her 12-year sustainable investing career, Rebecca evaluated thousands of companies from around the world on their sustainability performance, and mastered making the business case for sustainability leadership. Her optimism around urban resilience and grassroots sustainability led her to Except, where she is responsible for strategy and business development.

Rebecca began her academic career in Life Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley but a chance class introduced her to the power and magic of human culture. Going on to study Anthropology, International Relations and Sustainable Development, she developed a clear understanding of how much we can learn from each other’s differences, how fundamentally alike we all are, and the consequences and privileges of economic inequality.

Systems-thinking is second nature to her, which helps her navigate complexity and translate it into simpler, more actionable terms. She is valued for her practical idealism, is inspired by the infinite wisdom of nature, and especially loves working with people who have big hearts and big brains.
